Jessie Steele – Vintage Style Aprons

I grew up in a media era when moms stayed at home and were always dressed so pretty to clean the house and cook dinner.   And they always, always wore an apron.  But now moms have to balance their family, career and a home and I can’t tell you the last time I dressed up to clean the toilet!  I think it’s kind of sad because there was a certain femininity that was associated with that motherly image.  Face it ladies, we don’t do enough for ourselves to make us feel pretty.  That’s partially why I think the apron is a valuable asset in the kitchen.  Not only are they pretty and frilly but they help keep your clothes clean and put you in the cooking mood after a long, hard day at the office.  One of my favorite apron designers is the company Jessie Steele.  They base their original designs on 20th century vintage aprons with the heirloom qualities and nostalgic beauty from a bygone era.  Jessie Steele’s collection is inspired and designed by the mother and daughter team of Helena and Claire Steele.  Not only do they carry a kitchen line but they also carry an exclusive line of designer aprons, robes and capes for salon professionals!

Now, I’m not the only one who has noticed Jessie Steele.  Watch an episode of Desperate Housewives or pick up a Southern Lady Magazine and you will see their styling and profiling wares everywhere!  Their styles are really perky and sassy, and with so much variety, there is a pattern to please every lady.

My kitchen is my sanctuary.  It gives me a place to be creative and do something special for myself and my family.  Even if it goes from freezer to microwave, I intend to look fabulous!  In the immortal words of my friend Suzanne, “play pretty, ladies!”  JT6HBCZRXC29
